CD-R1 - Aud 2 (Scale 1-6)
Blind Faith was scheduled to debut the U.S. tour in Newport (some sources mention this show as part of the Newport Festival, others tell it was not at the Newport Festival, but a special concert). The promotors cancelled the show about a week beforehand due to problems they had with fans destroying property during prior rock acts there. As a result, the Madison Square Garden show on July 12, 1969 in New York City became the American debut. After the cancellation, another show was added in Bridgeport, CT on July 13.
Average quality for an audience recording of the era - one for diehard collectors only.
Audience recording and it shows! The audience is incredibly loud and the band sound a million miles away; that is when you can hear them. Pity, because a close listen (and believe me it is a close listen) reveals EC playing his socks off which was rare for a BF gig - witness Hyde Park. Perhaps a tape hoarder is sitting on a better recording which might one day see the light of day. Here's hoping.
