Remixed from the original UK mono by United Artist for the “Stereo” issue of A Hard Day’s Night, it is mono but shifts toward the left for Paul’s solo vocal bridge “When I’m home” and toward the right for the instrumental break. It wasn’t until the 1982 release of Reel Music that this song appeared in true stereo in the US.

Stereo. Original 1965 stereo mix used for the UK Rubber Soul Album, The Beatles 1962-1966 collection, the US Yesterday and Today album and The Beatles 1962-1966. The cowbell track is heard during each verse except the last line, between the lines of the refrain, in the instrumental break, and in the fadeout. In the newer 1987 CD version the vocal is moved to the right center, and the cowbell and guitar track far right also the cowbell is heard throughout the refrain, evidence that the track is being faded during vocal lines in the original stereo mix.

Rechanneled stereo. In the US there was no proper stereo version available so Atlantic Records released this re-channeled stereo mix made from the edited mono. Originally in the final chorus, Sheridan sings, “Take out some insurance on me baby…some god damned insurance on me baby.” Atlantic Records made one edit on Tony Sheridan’s lead vocal to keep the song from being offensive and sanitized the chorus to play “Take out some insurance on me baby…ooh, some insurance on me baby.” This version first appeared on the ATCO single in mono and later on three albums, Ain’t She Sweet, The Amazing Beatles, and The Original Discothčque Hits. This was taken from the US album Ain’t She Sweet-The Beatles & Other Great Group Sounds From England ATCO SD33-169. Listed as If You Leave Me Baby.
