John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band
Mother (SCP 2417 - a Yellow Dog offshoot like HMC)
Collection of very good to excellent quality home demos & studio outtakes from 1970, released on blue vinyl in 2009. A number of these tracks can also be found on other bootlegs documenting the JL/POB sessions, but tracks A02-A06 are of special note as they have yet to be released on CD (as far as I can tell). They include the final takes of Love, a great rocking rendition of Hold On and a previously unheard jam on Glad All Over (different from the performance included in the familiar Oldies medley) that segues into take 23 of Hold On.
I went easy on the noise reduction. In fact all I did was some light click & pop removal, so surface noise is still evident. For those inclined to do a more extensive clean-up I've kept small sections of the lead-in noise for both sides of the vinyl. If you don't need them, simply discard them.
I did the transfer through a TASCAM US-122L in 32-bit (44.1 kHz). After the click & pop removal I downsampled the files to 16-bit (44.1 kHz). Encoded to FLAC (level 8) with TLH.
