Notes:
Part one of a two part series.
This project is a combination of Two tape sources (one audience and one soundboard), and both recordings have been remastered.
The recordings have just been remastered, they have not been merged together with other tape sources to make a complete show.
We chose to do straight remasters of these tape sources, and not try to make complete recordings for the following reason:
Like Inglewood (9-4-70), and Tokyo (9-23-71) there are a large number of audience recordings of this performance (11 audience recordings including this one), all sound quite good, and all bring something to the table, and like Inglewood and Tokyo, Zeppelin collectors have preferences about which tape sources they prefer, and what combination would make for a perfect mix.
We decided to save ourselves that headache and just try and focus on making decent remasters, and improve the sound quality of these tape sources.
This project was done in fun, and not meant to be a definitve recording.
I apologize for not being able to offer up everyone here the complete show, my hands are unfortunately tied due to the fact that a large portion of the show has been used in the official Led Zeppelin DVD, but I do hope that people here will enjoy what I am able to offer.
What we've done to make these projects:
- We've tried to balance the instruments and the acoustics as much as possible.
- We've reduced as much tape hiss as possible.
- We've tried to bring out things that were buried in the recording (crowdcheers, clapping, commentary).
