Audience Recording
This is sourced from the unlabelled “Auckland” or “Western Springs Stadium” CD. Great show and recording! Probably not the whole show, with “Moby Dick” no doubt missing before “Dazed and confused” and possibly one or two others towards the end. The audience is very respectful, generally not applauding on recognition of the song after it starts, and waiting till it's finished before applauding at the end. The “Whole lotta Love” medley is a stand-out here - not only does the sound quality pick up (?start of a new tape), with the guitar sounding very raw and the vocals more immediate, but the medley songs are played in almost their entirety, rather than just snippets of them. The taper sounds off his gourd, laughing in delight at each new song - lucky bastard!!
This show was an arena performance, and there were close to 25,000 people in attendence,a lot of them were brought in by train, a Zeppelin Express ( hence the title for Genuine Masters" Kiwi Express") but the sound is so tight and warm you wouldn't think this was in a stadium.
1. The original ran fast. The speed has been slowed by 3% throughout.
2. Song starts have been aligned to their introductions if present.
3. Immigrant Song - had a very long fade-in - this has been unfaded: now there is a short
fade in and a lot of hiss which fades out as the sound improves.
4. Heartbreaker - gap at 0:02 in the original has been restored by stretching the note
5. Heartbreaker - pop at 0:24 has been edited out
6. Since I've been loving you - brief fade out/in at 7:11 (during applause) removed
7. Stairway to Heaven - brief fades at 8:35 and 9:22 (during applause) removed
8. Stairway to Heaven - pop at 9:32 edited out
9. That's the Way - dropout in sound at 2:44 patched with same notes repeated just before and after
10. Tangerine - dropout at end of track just before start of Bron-yr-aur Stomp repaired
11. Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp - pop removed at 5:00
12. Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp - cut at end edited out to segue with next song
13. Dazed and confused - incomplete: the abrupt end to track was patched with the sudden end of Heartbreaker, and a combination of applause from end of Heartbreaker and Whole lotta Love used to segue into the start of Whole lotta Love
14. Whole lotta Love - tape repetition at 13:15 edited out
15. Whole lotta Love - sound loss/dropout at 19:18 edited out
16. Whole lotta Love - fade out at end restored, applause segued with next track
17. Communication Breakdown - end re-faded, tape switch-off noise removed
