Notes

August 1949 -- December 1950

Among the highlights of the studio recordings on Long Gone Lonesome Blues (August 1949 -- December 1950): Vol. V are the hit singles "Long Gone Lonesome Blues," "Why Don't You Love Me?," "My Son Calls Another Man Daddy," "They'll Never Take Her Love From Me," "Nobody's Lonesome for Me," "Moanin' the Blues," and "Cold, Cold Heart" -- in fact, out of the eight studio sessions on the collection, only "Why Should We Try Anymore?" failed to chart. The rest of the compilation consists of a handful of overdubbed non-session recordings and live tracks, as well as several excellent undubbed non-sessions songs ("Low Down Blues," "It Just Don't Matter Now," "There's No Room in My Heart for the Blues," "Last Night I Dreamed of Heaven"), and the first Luke the Drifter recordings (including "Too Many Parties and Too Many Pals," "The Funeral," and "Everything's Okay").
