In honor of the late great Alex Chilton, here's the first in a series of torrents of rarities. First up is this bootleg on the Punk Vault label, which is labeled "Big Star - Beale Street Breakdown" on one side of the insert, and "Alex Chilton - Starcrossed: Tales of Two Cities" on the other. In any case, it's all tracks from the 1975-1978 'wilderness years,' so as you can imagine, the fidelity and performance quality varies wildly. Tracks 1-8 are a pretty shambolic Big Star radio session from WLYX, Memphis in 1975, tracks 9 and 15 are studio outtakes from Memphis 1975, and the rest are live recordings from various NYC venues in 1977-1978.
