Coming five years after the band's debut album, the Four Charms' Triskaidekaphobia is a jaunty time warp of retro-rock, blues and swing. While still retaining the band's core sound of postwar jump blues, this time around Jimmy Sutton and Co. have made room for some other late-'40s and early-'50s vibes including the Howlin' Wolf-esque blues of "I Gotta Get Another Girl" and a Latin take on Johnny Burnette's rockabilly classic "Lonesome Tears in My Eyes." This is a superb and winning collection of vintage-style swing that still sounds fresh and invigorating.
