Notes

Numerous Sheryl Crow bootlegs came out in 1990s, many of which boasted excellent sound quality. The thing that set The Trinity Church Sessions apart from other Crow bootlegs is the fact that Crow isn't joined by a full band. Recorded live at the Trinity Church in Canada in November, 1998, this CD finds the singer/songwriter having very little accompaniment. No drums, no keyboards--the main instrument is Crow's guitar, although she enjoys some rhythm support and background vocals from a male Canadian artist she identifies as Vegas. This intimate, folksy, stripped-down setting proves to be a major advantage on hits that range from "My Favorite Mistake," "Anything But Down" and "If It Makes You Happy" to "A Change," "Every Day Is A Winding Road" and "Leaving Las Vegas." The CD booklet describes The Trinity Church Sessions as "a perfect soundboard recording, " and to be sure, the sound quality is superb. After the Trinity Church performance, listeners are treated to two enjoyable studio recordings that have never come out on any of Crow's commercial releases: the moody "When Love is Over" and the haunting "Father's Song." This rare bootleg is hard to find but is well worth searching for.
