SYNOPSIS:
The Easybeats came together at the Villawood Migrant Hostel in 1964. Within a year they topped the pop charts in Australia. APRA declared "Friday on My Mind" the most influential Australian song of the past 75 years. By 1969 it was over for the band, however, the music lives on. This documentary is rich in historical relevance and paints a picture of an Australia boldly emerging from its cultural cringe in the early 1960s. The band's line-up exemplified the influence of post-war migration on Australian society. All five founding members were from families who had migrated to Australia from Europe: lead singer Stevie Wright and drummer Gordon 'Snowy' Henry Fleet were from England; rhythm guitarist George Young was from Scotland; lead guitarist Harry Vanda and bassist Dick Diamonde were from The Netherlands.
