The Rolling Stones' US greatest hits compilation "Hot Rocks" was pressed in multiple record plants throughout the country when it was first released. Somehow, one of the plants was sent the wrong takes of Brown Sugar and Wild Horses. For roughly two weeks, these takes were pressed into vinyl before the error was corrected. An unknown but small number of these records were sold to the unsuspecting public.
For a little more information, go to http://www.beatzenith.com/the_rolling_stones/rslplabels.htm and scroll down to Who Is "Shelley"? Note that these Hot Rocks versions are close to those in "Gimme Shelter" but are mixed differently, and are complete takes as well.
These tracks were transferred directly from LP using a Music Hall turntable, Ortofon cartridge, Adcom preamplifier, and Cakewalk USB audio interface. Software used was Adobe Audition and ClickRepair. Presented in FLAC 1.2.1.
