2011: Above recorder and tape -> Gemini PA-7000 pre-amp (to tame volume prior to to the clip-prone H2) -> Zoom H2 (24/96) -> CoolEdit2000 (fades and conversion to 16/44.1) -> FLAC 8
I used to record a lot of stuff off the air back in the 1980s. Pretty quickly
after picking up the habit, I acquired a Pioneer TVX-9500, which was an external
tuner that received (then mono) TV audio and sounded considerably better than
what came out of a normal TV back in those days.
This recording is from my first-generation reel and was transferred on February
27, 2011 using the same deck on which it was recorded nearly 31 years ago.
The abrupt cut between the songs is my fault. At the time this was recorded,
"sophisticated" capture methods basically meant waiting for what you wanted to
record to come on, then hoping you un-paused the deck in time.
