This is from the short solo tour of 3 dates that Cale made of New Zealand in 1986. The ads of the time noted that Cale was to play this show at the James Hay Theatre in Christchurch on the 4th of September. To date no recording has ever shown up of that if it happened.

This show may have been an extra date. The Hillsborough Tavern, sadly destroyed in a fire a few years ago, was a 900 odd capacity venue in suburban Christchurch. The venue was famous for among other things for being the venue that launched the career of New Zealand's inimitable Gordons in 1980.
At the time - RWP was also broadcast on the nascent FM radio in NZ as a simulcast on the student university network around NZ. So this was recorded on a small ghetto blaster, not a great quality one hence the background noise. This recording has only just recently been digitized. Someone somewhere probably has the video of the three songs presented here from the same broadcast.
