Hello people. I've been working on some of the songs included in the recent Trevor Jones tapes that have been popping up. I Use Sony Soundforge Pro 10.0 recently, and I need to say that I've always despised Noise Reduction. But now I'm becoming an avid believer in it! NR has come a very long way since the old DOLBY days! Just listen to these tracks I fixed from the Upgraded "Let 'em Out" /Trevor Jones collection, and tell me what you think. There are some limitations on the Source Tapes which cannot be helped without massive processing and loss of original sound... I sincerely believe that the "Clicking" which you are hearing on the tracks I corrected is just a reveal of what's on the source tape once you clear all the hiss from it. Same as you couldn't hear all that cool percussion until I took all the noise away!! (wait until you hear the background ambient percussion on Note You Never Wrote!) But anyway, God knows how many generations old it is. I used the slowest HQ attack/release on the Noise Reduction that takes longer to process and tried different things... Some of the tracks have some warbly high-frequency dropouts on right channel of the full collection, But leaving the hiss there doesn't make it better. I'd simply suggest that people turn up the treble as needed to maybe recover some of the high end in that case..... These are all the tracks from the Speed Of Sound Sessions of the recent releases you've seen here... Trevor Jones/Let em Out, Etc...
I thought these were the noisiest tracks from the Lot. So these will probably be the only ones I'll fix. The rest are pretty listenable, I think.
Please realize this is my first upload anywhere. Hope I did okay
Enjoy, and please let me know what you think...
