PVC 8957
Produced & Recorded By Mitch Easter
Recorded At Drive-In Studio, Winston, Salem, NC
This is the first drop I've done where I had the opportunity to ask the artist how he felt about having his music shared in this way. Bobby said "go for it" but expressed some scepticism in how a drop would come out. He said that his vinyl was quite crackly and that this was an instance where the CD really did sound better. Because this did have a CD issue (though it is currently OOP) and because I wanted for Bobby to get a good feel for this pressing, I didn't do the "surgical cleanup" that I usually do. I just brushed lightly with ClickRepair and did track splits.
For those of you who don't know Bobby, he was half of the duo "The Windbreakers". They were part of the Southeastern US music scene in the 80s. The sound is in the same vein as REM or The dbs, in part because they all worked with producer Mitch Easter. You will note that Easter produces and plays on this effort as well.
