The Thorns album was great in concept but not so much in execution. Take three singer songwriters and put them together as a CSN for the new millennium (so far so good). The problem was that the album was terribly overproduced and had a sound closer to David Foster than David Crosby. The critics panned it and sales were all but non existent outside of hardcore fans of any of the individual members. A few months later they realized the production miscalculation and re-released the disc with a bonus disc called "Sunset Sessions" where the songs were stripped down to their bare form. This proved to be too little too late as the public had already made up it's mind and they soon split up.
However, this performance came at just the right time. They were together long enough to click, but had not yet become jaded by the commercial failure. Dig it and think of what could have been.
