I got down to the show really early right after work to catch up w/ RT and the guy who was doing sound for him on this tour.
It was not Simon and I think his nickname was "Sarge". He said he would let me make a tape.
Right before RT came on I handed my DAT deck to him so he could patch me in.
The soundman from Crowded House had the same kind of deck as mine and since it was already connected, RT's sound guy just put my blank in and I used that deck instead of mine.
Well about 5 minutes before the end of RT's set the Crowded House due came over and saw his deck was running, looked confused and then after he realized I was using it he got really mad.
I was lucky he left my tape run, probably only because I told him RT's dude said it was OK, but right after RT's last note he he hit stop within a fraction of a second, popped out the tape and thrust it at me.
I took my tape and went home before Crowded House came on.
