Unlike a few of the other gigs from this time there is little or no keyboard used, Ivan clearly concentrated on guitar. So it terms of sound it's not so far away from the more guitar focussed late 1980 gigs. I had enjoyed the use of both piano - for example in the Hammersmith and Hartford gigs, and synth, on the European gigs from this part of the tour, but this still has much to recommend - there's an uproarious crowd, throbbing bass, pounding drum, great stereo sound, and Iggy, being Iggy.A very nice indeed quality recording of Iggy live in early 1980, which is a good thing you should find.

I have not altered the sound...the bass is slightly heavy for my liking, there is a minor buzz, and bias to the right channel - but in this case there are slight issues that even for me fade from my attention as it is actually a high quality recording as audience ones go - I rate as being almost as good as the FM recordings from September and October 1980, it is very clear indeed, it is only the vocals could be *slightly* louder that prevent me saying it is pretty much the equal of the 26 September 1980 Detroit recording. If you like that one check this out...it is long pre "Soldier" hence the different track list.

Interesting hearing Joe and Billy without piano...at least it is the highest quality recording I have heard of this track, even if the Hammersmith version of this song is better musically. The spirited performance by the band, Iggy's attitude and the lively audience make up for any such objections anyway. A shame the band lose their fire a little on some of the last few tracks, they peter out a bit, but great gig overall anyway.

Enjoy.
