Sunshine Superman - Paul McCartney
1979
No Label CX296A/B
The cover was a plain white sleeve.
This appeared on CDR some years ago as the very obscure vinyl bootleg known as Sunshine Superman. Unfortunately don't think this is it, but hell - it's close enough. The only time this sounds as if it comes from a vinyl transfer is on the peppily popping Melvyn Bragg interview taken from his South Bank Show. On this TV appearance, Paul is seen in the studio accompanied by playbacks of an evolving Mull of Kintyre. During the interview, he's also heard to tell the story of the very first song he wrote (could this really be for the very first time?). You also get the briefest of snippets of other tunes, including Michelle, Too Bad About Sorrows, Yesterday, and From Me To You.
The first side is what's commonly called the Postcard Session from late '68 featuring Paul and Donovan Leitch trading tunes and tales. This undoubtedly sounds better on No. 3 Abbey Road NW8 Definitive Edition.
Somebody also tacked on one of the Ram promos along with greetings for the new year from not yet Sir Paul (eight years after the release of Sunshine Superman!).
