Total Time ::: 1:25:03

::: VERY fine stereo, punchy, fat, crisp AUD that calls for bit of bass. Check samples for autonomous aural appraisals or succinct, succulent, jam-filled ear morsels.
::: Warts: Taper shut off deck 'tween some songs. Tiny bit o' volume wavering. Whistler's contributions lowered & it ain't too bad. #5 has 1/2 second cut in middle. #7 has tapeflip splice. Some clapping (lowered LOTs but #11 had too much). At ~51 mins some f*cker remembers his silver whistle but musta bin quickly shut down as we only get 4 blows 'til he braves 4 more in #11.
::: *DATE INFO*: My tape was direct from taper (not a regular trader?) in 80s & likely most circulating copies are from mine. Mine's labeled NYC '75 1st gen, with Beacon Theatre written afterwards only on tray card in different pen. DIMER gv0000 researched & confirmed Johnny played NYC Felt Forum April 3, 1976 & it seems a VERY likely date. NO Beacon '76 or January '76 dates exist in ads, so almost certainly the taper remembered incorrectly. 1975 is incorrect as after #2, Johnny says, "It's from 'Captured Live'" (album released early '76) & said the same on '76 May 13,15+18 & setlists for all shows are almost the same. Lastly, 2 heavyweight NYC tapers concur - Davmar feel the sound is Felt Forum & The Florida Kid concurs & thinks he also recognises the announcer's voice from there.
::: COMPARISON CLAUSE. This is a known 1st gen. & significant upgrade of the 2008 unknown gen. roryglzep upload as "1976 (aka 1975) (AUD) Beacon Theater" & of the boot CD "Johnny Winter plays Beacon Theater. Looks slightly shorter as it's speed corrected, some blank spaces were removed & has clean splices.
::: At ~23 mins (tween songs) we get a plaintive cry from taper or his friend, "I drank too much beer!...".

Recording Information ::: unknown stereo cassette recorder & microphone(s) -> master stereo cassette -> 1st generation Maxell XLII-S 90 cassette, Dolby B on.

Playback 2013-xx-xx ::: 1st generation Maxell XLII-S 90 cassette on Nakamichi 680ZX cassette deck, Dolby B on, azimuth & speed adjusted (pitched!) for individual recording, heads cleaned & demagnetized -> Sony Linear PCM Recorder PCM-M10 (LPCM 44.10kHz/16bit WAV files) -> computer -> Audacity (normalisation to remove DC offset, channel/phase alignment, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch / dropout / bump / pop / click / dullspot repairs, audince noise of all sorts - whistles, claps & yelling reduced wherever possible (mega hours), volume adjustments, NO equalisation) -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. Note: LEFT channel seriously(!) lower in volume than right on master. First uploaded week of 2014-01-18.

Line-up ::: Johnny Winter - electric guitar, vocals // Floyd Radford - electric lead guitar // Randy Jo Hobbs - electric bass // Richard Hughes - drums.

Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.

CoolSonics 295 ::: Thanks to the original taper! ::: Corrections welcome ::: Here's one for roryglzep, one of the hardest workin' folks in DIMEland. Thanks to DIMER gv0000 for the help with the date information. This one is a cooker. I have very little in my collection of this vintage Winter, tho' it right in the middle between the first couple of times in saw him, in '73 & '79. I was a bit surprised by how intense it was, then realised there was a 2nd lead guitar on some of the material... Great performance, ENJOY!

Kudos to Zongo for life support, Lochner for mikes&more & Fast Freddie for runnin' Video Dick's Record Emporium with the bathroom office full of tape decks. Thanks to Hanwaker (few among us can keep his pace). Mountains of gratitude to Davmar, D.White, Sanchez, Elliot, The Florida Kid, Kloiber, Zingg, JTW, Bershaw, Boston Gold, Dixon, Moore, Gough & SO many more for all that collecting & sharing... Royal thanks to The Man In The Palace, Doc Tinker, Brinkhoffs, Barely Eatin', Reel Master Gaule, Parrish & all the traders who housed me thru my music acquisition & travel years. Hats off to Brother Kent, Uncle Jake, Little Queenie (& her neighbor Frank) & his honor Ptomaine Thomas. Glasses raised to Byron for musical horizon expansion & much obliged to J & Thurston for keepin' my concert fires burnin' since my continental shift. Thanks to the Mods for keepin' DIME alive. Enjoy, share, give, spread peace. Yers truly, Knees
