This was a tape that circulated five years ago on the Michael Kamen forums, but i don't
recall seeing it here. The taper captured it from the original broadcast back in 1972. There
are occasional static noises and drop-outs, but the tape seems to be digitally clean and
overall the quality is quite good.

It was around the same time that i shared the Fillmore West recording of the band

with that forum, and both recordings made their way to the band members. Not too long
afterwards the surviving members had a reunion of sorts for a radio show celebrating the
band's legacy, and they played selections from this WLIR broadcast during the show. I
think they are justifiably proud of what they accomplished with the group, despite their
substantial musical achievements since that time.

This recording is from a time late in the group's career, after the time that Brian Corrigan
had left the band and they were down to a four-piece, also having changed their name from
the "New York Rock and Roll Ensemble" to the shorter "New York Rock Ensemble."
