Early On (1964-1966) Rhino Records 1991, R2-70526

Excellent 1991 Rhino compilation that brings together the singles from Bowie's earliest recording years and tops it up with some previously unavailable tracks sourced from acetates. The majority of recordings were licensed from producer Shel Talmy and it's interesting to note that both sides of the I Pity The Fool/Take My Tip single feature a different vocal take to the original released versions. This historically fascinating collection sees Bowie flirting with the mod scene (clearly influenced by The Who among others) and, on the acetates, trying a number of styles from crooner to wannabe Beach Boy.
