This is Simon & Garfunkel's third and arguably best album. Now you will be able to hear it the way it was meant to be heard: in true mono. So far, Paul Simon has consistently vetoed the mono mixes from the CD (or any) reissues. God knows why, as they all -up to Bookends- are clearly superior to the stereo mixes. Not even to mention the artificial sounding remixes of the first three albums on the currently in print CDs.

This transfer was taken from a UK pressing. The album came out there in early 1968, one and a half year after the US release. Because 'Homeward bound' already appeared on the UK version of 'Sounds of Silence", it was omitted from the UK version of PSR&T. So I have included the original 'dry' stereo mix from the UK stereo version of the SOS LP here. This mix never reappeared elsewhere again, as it was remixed for the American PSR&T. If you are familiar with the common stereo mix, you will instantly hear the difference. One of the two guitar lines from the common mix can be heard more upfront.

The UK is slightly louder, but every bit as dynamic and fresh sounding as the US. The pressing quality of the UK vinyl also seems to be a notch better than the US one.
