This is a direct copy of a double vinyl LP I have entitled "Slaughter In The Air" DB Aido Records Duke 101 recorded at the LA Forum on 04-04-1978. Now I know that a speed corrected and remastered version of this
is still on the tracker, but I'm not sure if that is from a later pressing so I thought I would share my version. I have compared the sound of my LPs and the remastered version and I think my version has more bass and body to it.
It might just be my hearing in middle age but I'm sure someone who knows whet they are doing could get my recording sounding really nice.
I bought this most likely from Probe Records in Liverpool.
Buying Vinyl boots in the 70's was a whole day affair.
My brother was studying at Liverpool Uni and me and my mate would travel the 50 miles by train to Lime Street Station.
We'd walk around the three shops which stocked these "under the counter" recordings, although most of the time they were just
interspersed amongst officially available LP's.
As they were expensive normally I could only buy 1 LP every 2 or 3 months.
I remember on one occasion not being able to afford the Double LP Santa Monica show and had to settle for the 1 LP version "In Person".
A few months later I went to try and buy sides 3 and 4 I couldn't get them anywhere and ended up buying the compilation LP "Soft In The Middle" which
had Waiting For The Man and Moonage Daydream on it plus a load of 60's releases which at the time I didn't have.
I still have found memories of that LP with all the sound effects throughout. I may share those in between song sound effects sometime unfortunately all the material on that boot
has now been officially released.
I love the line out of McCartneys "Hi Hi Hi" which goes "Well, When I Met You At The Station You Were Standing With A Bootleg In Your Hand".
The bootleg shop "Hot Wax" was literally 100 yards from the main entrance to Lime Street Station in Liverpool.
Anyway back to this recording this is what Bassman has to say about this show, however please note,
my particular release is not in his list, however the sleeve insert/artwork are exactly the same as the 1978 release,
but my discs are not on coloured vinyl:
"The first bootleg to appear with a concert from the 1978 tour.
There is no other album containing the '78
live version of ROCK'N'ROLL SUICIDE, except for the
later re-issues and copies of this album.
One can wonder why WARSZAWA has been omitted
instead of the two pretty uninteresting German and French
studio versions of "HEROES"?"
The German version of Helden can be found on the soundtrack
album "Christian F" The french version although rare to find can be found on officially released vinyl
records.
I have recorded this direct from my Hi-Fi to my computer. I have not altered anything whatsoever.
I have not split it into different tracks, so you get four continous tracks, and the sound is exactly the same
as my vinyl LP's.
I hope you enjoy it.
Cheers
