CONFIDENTIAL REPORT
Host: David Levine
Guest: Wolfman Jack
Date of receipt: December 14, 1979
This 45 RPM disc has been sitting in its sleeve on my shelf for 32 years, unplayed. It was even unplayed at the radio station where I found it in the trash box. Imagine my shock to discover that, while it *looked* like it was in mint condition with no visible flaws, when it played, there were hundreds of scratches and numerous skips. In order to preserve the recording, I had to press down on the tonearm to bulldoze through the skips, enough times that I could get a recording of what was said in the skipped section, then edit out the failed attempts. The results are impressive, though - you'd never know there was a mark on it now.
This is a radio program that, according to the promo, was a whole series, which was distributed to radio stations for free. It is said to have interviewed Hollywood stars - actors, directors, musicians, producers, record label heads, etc. - "a behind-the-scenes look at the glamorous world of showbiz." I don't know if it was made in Canada, but that's where I found it, and not only have I never heard it on the radio, I can't find a single reference to its existence on the internet. I have no way of finding out if there were any more programs than this first one!
What we have here is the first episode of the program, with the promos saying "coming soon to this radio station." The guest is (the late) Wolfman Jack, who is clearly not being serious about any of the questions he's asked. But it's a fairly amusing way to fill seven minutes.
