So, I am not claiming to have the holy grail here, but merely a document to compare and contrast with the other seed that was posted here years ago, and which still sits here on the tracker, thanks to dedicated folks who have kept the seed alive…
While this is still an unknown gen, I picked up this copy in the early 90’s from a taper who had tons of rare and low gen material. This is not an exceedingly lower gen than what has floated around prior to this, but it is NOT sourced from a bootleg, as the last post was. The last post came from a boot called ‘Beyond Rhyme Nor Reason’, this one has direct lineage, albeit unknown generation.
There is certainly more hiss here than on the bootleg, but these files are NOT lossy, as some others have been found to be, and they do tend to be a bit brighter, perhaps even making the vocals SLIGHTLY more audible than the other post.
Much has been written about this one, and many people with far more expertise than I have made their points known, probably more eloquently than I as well, so I’ll merely give you what I have…
The file size is a bit larger here, and perhaps someone can find some redeeming qualities on the recording, not the least of which being that it is a glimpse of Syd’s last brilliant moments on stage before retreating into hiding for the remainder of his life.
Any comments, critiques and curses welcome.
