Review about this performance from Argenteumastrum.com:

A really superb show from the 1975 Tour.
The sound is great and the playing is excellent.
Robert is in decent voice and the band is on a roll!
No Quarter and Dazed And Confused are some of the best versions ever, and he opening numbers are really powerful.
The earlier shows on the tour like the New York shows were long, but the marathons were generally played at 1973 length (No Quarter never exceeding twenty minutes, Dazed never exceeding thirty).
In the west coast shows Zeppelin expands the numbers to where a thirty minute No Quarter and a forty-minute Dazed And Confused are routine.
More highlights include something happening onstage after Bonham's drum solo, which causes Plant to start singing lines from Max Bygraves' "You're A Pink Toothbrush".
This song is nothing more than Plant singing what appears to be a commercial jingle. It has only 10 seconds but it's funny!

Some collectors feel that this performance pales in comparison to the performance on March, 21st, 1975, I personally feel that both are quite amazing performances, although the performance on the 21st is a much longer than this one, and was lovingly dedicated to Jimi Hendrix.

For this project, we were working from the 2nd transfer (re-rip) from Fishey's silvers that were posted on TTD and Zomb, not the 1st transfer that was posted on Dime because the 1st transfer was ripped incorrectly and had SBE issues.

It was an honest mistake on Fishey's end, and I don't fault him for it, anyone could've made a mistake like that, and he has corrected the problem, so please don't hold any animosity towards him.

What we've done to make this project:

- We've tried to balance the instruments as much as possible, and bring out instruments that were buried in the raw recording. Originally, Jimmy's guitar work was a little low in the mix, while Jones bass was coming in more strongly, which is a unique thing because usually Jonesy needs to be brought up more than any other member of the band. So we wanted to bring Jimmy up in the mix without losing that beautiful low end.

- We've corrected the tape speed issues that plagued the raw tape source, originally the whole show was running a little too fast on all 3 discs of material.

- We've brought the volume down to a more reasonable level and made it easier on listeners ears, originally the volume on the raw tape source was running a bit too hot.

- We've tried to bring out more of the audience presence in the recording, giving the soundboard less of a flat sound to it, and more of a feeling of actually being the audience at the concert.

In regards to the title:

This is another performance that takes place on "St.Patricks Day", the other one being Munich, Germany, (3-17-73).

It's a shame that the band never makes mention of that, nor do the labels bother to give the show a title making reference to it, something like "St.Patricks Day Massacre" for example.

Making a connection between Seattle and St.Patricks Day may seem like an odd thing to do, but apparently, Seattle is one of the best places in the U.S to "get your green on".

Just as Chicago dyes the river green, Seattle paints the lines on their streets green, and also dyes the water in one of their famous city fountains green.

They also hold a traditional parade like most cities do, but they also hold many different events around the city revolving around Irish culture, such as film festivals, plays, Irish music and dancing, and cook offs.

But in the end, the "St.Patricks Day" references really didn't pack the punch we wanted, so we tried to think of other ideas for titles by digging through Seattles history and what they've contributed to the world.

I know Seattle is famous for several things, the birth place (and resting place) of Jimi Hendrix, their sports teams, it's fishing heritage, Starbucks (coffee in general), the sitcom "Fraiser", and of course "Grunge Music".

All of these things I've listed gave us some great ideas on what to call this project, here are some of the ideas we came up with:

- "From The Muddy Banks Of The Wishkah" (A Nirvana live album that makes reference to a river located in Washington, where Nirvana was based out of)

- "Seattles Best" (A Coffee company based out of Seattle that used to be a major competition for Starbucks, but is now owned by Starbucks)

- "John Bonham The Fisherman" (A play on the song "John The Fisherman" by the band Primus, it would also make reference to Plant's comment about Bonham being a "Fantastic Fisherman")

- "Growing Up Free And Wild" (A reference from Bobby Sherman's song "Seattle")

While we liked all of those titles, they just didn't pack the punch we were looking for, so somehow we came up with our title choice "Godfathers Of Grunge" while we were tossing out ideas.

We liked the title idea because it somehow makes reference to the city/state where the show takes place because Seattle is credited as being the birthplace of Grunge, and Zeppelin themselves are credited as being a major influence on several Grunge artists.

Some Grunge bands that have covered Zeppelin include:

- Nirvana ("Immigrant Song", "Stairway To Heaven", and "Heartbreaker")

- Soundgarden ("Thank You", and "Communication Breakdown")

- Smashing Pumpkins ("No Quarter", and "The Rain Song")

- Stone Temple Pilots ("Dancing Days")

The actual title of "Godfather Of Grunge" actually belongs to Neil Young, he's credited as being the first Grunge artist, mostly for his work with his side project "Crazy Horse".

Highlights of this show are:

- No Quarter

- Dazed And Confused (over 30 minutes long)

- Stairway To Heaven

- Whole Lotta Love (it's so god damn funky)

Hope everyone here will enjoy this.

Cheers!
