Total Time ::: 29:04

::: VERY fine stereo AUD. Check samples for digestibility or for musical shock & awe (the ONLY acceptable kind!).
::: Warts: Not many. Occasional mike noise & slight distortion.
::: JJ180 opened (the 'first punk band' in Santa Cruz!) & it was their final performance. I do not know if they were taped.
::: Tape labeled only "1981". NYC album gig was March 13 with Tony Machine on drums. Then The Trio toured the USA/Canada with Van Tieghem drumming till winter '81.
::: Possibly there was an early & late show (often true at the Keystone).
::: Probably not entire set but about 2/3rds of it judging by the album & one video that circulate from the tour.

Recording Information ::: Uher cassette deck, unknown microphones -> master stereo TDK-SA 90 cassette, Dolby off.

Playback 2014-01-12 ::: master stereo TDK-SA 90 cassette on Nakamichi 680ZX cassette deck, Dolby off, azimuth & speed adjusted (pitched!) for individual recording, heads cleaned & demagnetized -> Sony Linear PCM Recorder PCM-M10 (LPCM 44.10kHz/16bit WAV files) -> computer -> Audacity (normalisation to remove DC offset, channel/phase alignment, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch / dropout / bump / pop / click / dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, further speed fixes if necessary, NO equalisation) -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. First uploaded week of 2014-01-18.

Line-up ::: Chris Spedding - electric guitar, vocals // Michael "Busta Cherry" Jones* - electric bass, vocals // David Van Tieghem - drums.

Michael Jones is aka Busta Jones, B. Jones, Busta (Cherry) Jones, Busta Cherry Jones, Buster "Cherry" Jones, Buster Cherry Jones, Buster Jones, Buster Mack Jones, Jones, Mack "BC" Jones, Michael "Busta" Jones, Michael Busta "Cherry" Jones. Right on for me that among his many accomplishments, recording with Gang Of Four, Talking Heads, Brian Eno, etc, he also played in the band White Lightnin' who had a pretty damn fine album on Island Records in '75.

Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.

CoolSonics 294 ::: Thanks to the original taper, Brother Kent, co-founder of the original Berkeley Chapter of the Promised Land Hat Society! ::: Corrections welcome ::: I ignored this one for a while as it wasn't labeled well & my brother is no longer on the planet to tell the tale, but pulled it out to see if I could annotate it & realised it was QUITE cool. Hardly any recordings around of this line-up at all as far as I can see. Perhaps only one, a video tape from The Whiskey in Los Angeles. Should make some folks quite happy, I reckon. Be vocal about your enjoyment, both here & on other torrents, as it does motivate the uploaders. ENJOY!

Kudos to Zongo for life support, Lochner for mikes&more & Fast Freddie for runnin' Video Dick's Record Emporium with the bathroom office full of tape decks. Thanks to Hanwaker (few among us can keep his pace). Mountains of gratitude to Davmar, D.White, Sanchez, Elliot, The Florida Kid, Kloiber, Zingg, JTW, Bershaw, Boston Gold, Dixon, Moore, Gough & SO many more for all that collecting & sharing... Royal thanks to The Man In The Palace, Doc Tinker, Brinkhoffs, Barely Eatin', Reel Master Gaule, Parrish & all the traders who housed me thru my music acquisition & travel years. Hats off to Brother Kent, Uncle Jake, Little Queenie (& her neighbor Frank) & his honor Ptomaine Thomas. Glasses raised to Byron for musical horizon expansion & much obliged to J & Thurston for keepin' my concert fires burnin' since my continental shift. Thanks to the Mods for keepin' DIME alive. Enjoy, share, give, spread peace. Yers truly, Knees
