Are You Experienced is the debut album by the rock band the Jimi Hendrix Experience. The album featured Hendrix's R&B-based, distortion-and feedback-laden psychedelic electric guitar playing and launched him as a major new international star.
Are You Experienced was recorded over a five-month period from late October 1966 through early April 1967. The album required sixteen recording sessions, which took place at three London locations: CBS Recording Studios, De Lane Lea Studios and the prestigious Olympic Studios. Chandler booked most of the sessions at Olympic, because the facility was acoustically superior and equipped with most of the latest technology, though it was still using four-track recordings whereas American studios were using eight-track. I thought I'd see what my 1987 UK reissue of 'Experienced' sounded like and I was pleasantly surprised, see what you think! And at least, from a UK perspective, it has the correct tracks in the right order.
