Released in 1991 on the spanish label Munster Records and compiled by Inigo Munster, "Not The Singer But The Songs" was a tribute to Alex Chilton (Big Star and solo eras) featuring bands from the USA (Wishniaks, Dangtrippers, Mitch Easter, 27 Various, Young Fresh Fellows, Ben Vaughn...), Australia (Chevelles, Pyramidiacs...), Spain (Los Valendas,Vancouvers...), UK, Sweden, and even France (Dum Dum Boys). The album was available in two versions, a CD with 23 bands/songs while the vinyl double LP edition had three bonus bands/track (Exploding White Mice / September Gurls / Preachers).
