Original torrent text

"A complete session by The Astronettes at Trident Studios. Produced by David Bowie (who wrote some of the songs and can also be heard throughout the session). This is a "working copy" of the session and different from the album mix that was released by NMC."

I once heard what I thought was a stereo version of this session. Time tells me maybe I was mistaken...
I did not hear it through headphones and I have tried and tried to track down a true stereo version.

This is a widened version. I know well some don't like that - the original is here on MWP if you don't, so
you don't really need to download this or comment (tbh) if that is the case. I also raised the levels, which seemed to vary a little in the first half, and got lower and lower in the second half.

If this is for you, enjoy.

The re-work was roughly as follows

-12db decrease (as the mixing and combining needs space)
double up the tracks, add .01 sec delay to one of the channels, split channels and mix either side (balance achieved through trial and error)
Combine above doubled up track with untouched track with the latter at a higher level. The above mixing while giving a nice widening effect I am more than aware can sometimes sound artificial to some, and I have found combining it with the untouched file means a balance is achieved between the raw sound of the original and the mixed version. Studios used to - and I'm sure still do - resort to all sorts of double tracking and compression effects and the bottom line is this method I found by trial and error sounds good to me and others. Those who do not approve or find it does not sound good to them - no-one is forcing you to download this.
The tracks were then put through mda_image - at 95% S Width. In this case I wasn't going to try mda_image
at first, but then I found it helped make the recording a little clearer. Every recording, and every
re-working is different, as someone I know who mixes for a living, no one project is the same, and the
method to approach it is likely to need to differ each time. In this case, I found the recording was a little
muddy, and to my pleasant surprise, mda_image in this case helped there, and in seemed ideal since while in
many cases I want a widened version of a recording largely for headphone listening, a stereo-ish version
of this recording was desirable if possible.
I listen to live recordings in headphones for the most part, and many people listen in headphones / earphones these days.
This may sound interesting to many when listened to like that, and I am aware that through conventional speakers this sort of mix / re-work may or may not sound as good as an untouched version. It's very subjective, and very much down to individual preference.

Can anyone share this?

THE EVENT OF DAVID BOWIE

I am well aware that there was a CD version, and torrents of that and a tape version of the LP version have been shared...can someone share a direct transfer from the LP, please?

thanks for any help!
