Sound: OK when that particular audience member is not singing then it gets bad... An obnoxious German guy followed me around attempting to sing into the microphone, then trying to get the recording off me.
Wrong lyrics, wrong rhythm, wrong song, even mimicking bass and guitar lines... Apparently if you shout "Do something Rock'n'Roll!" halfway into the show, Eric is playing another few songs for you... At least we now know what the Animals would have been like with that German guy fronting them. He only disappeared around the drum solo in Roadhouse Blues.
Eric is in fine form, doing some improvised lines in It's My Life. Roadhouse Blues and Bring It On Home To Me also have some funny lines, especially when he is addressing an autograph seeker who tried to get him to sign stuff while he was singing. The mid-song autograph hound didn't even bring a pen to the stage... it's worth getting Bring It On Home To Me and Paint It Black to add them to one of the other 1999 shows I have uploaded.
There was another weird incident when a big guy jumped onto the stage to chase Eric. A slender security man rushed the big guy but couldn't do better than hanging on to the giant's back. Eric was very cool about this. He sent the security man away and hugged the stage runner for a few long seconds. The big guy walked away in peace eventually.
Fade out after Roadhouse Blues due to disc change and fade in before Sky Pilot due to extensive crowd noise.
Dedicated to Philippe and Wolfgang, two massive Burdon fans I met on this show. Where are you, guys???
