Total Time ::: 67:04

::: Nice wide stereo AUD which is what it is. Hear samples, see warts below, likely still be very pleased. Check samples for personal flight tests or momentary lift-off experiences.
::: Warts: Bit muffled, dropouts hard to patch on this but there weren't many. Some distortion in right channel. AUD intense with taper not far from stage & in the midst of the action - some talking, bit of clapping (in "Somebody To Love" & "Volunteers"), the occasional helicopter..... It's a live concert in Jersey, folks!
::: JF Murphy & Free Flowing Salt opened (and possibly others).
::: http://www.moyssi.com/history.htm has some history about this final rock show at Wall Stadium (which almost didn't happen).
::: The taper shut off the deck between songs.
::: Due to the different sound between the channels, the right channel remains boosted over the other to balance the stereo effect. It is possible to make a less distorted, more high end version in mono by using the left channel only. However the wide stereo effect is very cool here. Some kind of mix between the channels keeping the stereo imaging might also be cool. Anyway, flag the flag iny direction you chose.

Recording Information ::: unknown stereo reel-to-reel recording equipment (probably 2 different kinds of microphones)-> wide stereo master tape @7&1/2 ips -> unknown generations of analog tape -> unknown generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette, Dolby B on.

Playback 2012-05-xx ::: unknown generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette on Nakamichi BX-300 cassette deck, Dolby B on, azimuth & pitch adjusted, heads cleaned & demagnatized -> Tascam CD-RW900SL pro CD recorder -> CD-RW -> computer, EAC secure -> wavs -> Audacity (normalisation to remove DC offset, fades &/or glitches, dropouts, volume adjustments, no EQ) -> CD Wave (track splits) -> Trader's Little Helper -> yer ears. First uploaded week of 2012-07.07.

Line-up ::: Paul Kantner - guitar, vocals // Grace Slick - vocals // Jack Casady - bass // Jorma Kaukonen - guitar // Papa John Creach - violin // Joey Covington -drums, vocals.

Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.

CoolSonics 171 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders! ::: Corrections welcome ::: I love this period Airplane - nothing lightweight about it & this set is particularly chunky & stupendous. If yer bored during this rendition of "Feel So Good", you should seek psychological help or simply turn off the stereo for a year or two. Jack, Jorma & Papa John are working the sound for much of the set, with Jack really providing a wall of melody behind everything. One microphone must have been pointed at the P.A. stack & another at the stage (quite different information was captured between the two). I cleaned up a LOT of the mess. Someone could still go through & manually reduce clapping in 2 songs "Somebody To Love" & "Volunteers", otherwise I think things have pretty much been done (without any EQ). It's a rocker. Enjoy!

Kudos to Zongo for life support, Lochner for mikes&more & Fast Freddie for runnin' Video Dick's Record Emporium with the bathroom office full of tape decks. Thanks to Hanwaker (few among us can keep his pace). Mountains of gratitude to Davmar, D.White, Sanchez, Elliot, The Florida Kid, Kloiber, Zingg, JTW, Bershaw, Boston Gold, Weeks, Dixon, Moore, Gough & SO many more for all that collecting & sharing... Royal thanks to The Man In The Palace, Doc Tinker, Brinkhoffs, Barely Eatin', Reel Master Gaule, Parrish & all the traders who housed me thru my music acquisition & travel years. Hats off to Brother Kent, Uncle Jake, Little Queenie (& her neighbor Frank) & his honor Ptomaine Thomas. Glasses raised to Byron for musical horizon expansion & much obliged to J & Thurston for keepin' my concert fires burnin' since my continental shift. Thanks to the Mods for keepin' DIME alive. Enjoy, share, give, spread peace. Yers truly, Knees
