Taper Notes:
Frankly I'm not quite sure why I thought about putting this show out for BARN35. But yet here it is, another one of my oldest DAT recordings -- this was not the only time I time I saw the legendary Band (I saw them one other time on the fateful night before Jerry Garcia's death at Central Park Summerstage, opening for Bob Weir and Ratdog), but this was the only time I ever recorded them. This was a super fun day on the Great Lawn at Central Park, presented thanks to Ben & Jerry's -- a music festival with a slightly progressive political bent -- there were prewritten postcards about various issues (including, if I recall, reproductive health) which you could fill out and exchange for free ice cream pops. I don't think I saw the entire festival, but I think I saw some of the other acts (thuogh I didn't record them).

This is not a great recording in any sense of the word -- I was not exactly in the "sweet spot" in a tremendous crown on the Great Lawn of Central Park, and my gear was not the greatest at this point, but this turns out to be a highly listenable recording of one of the greatest bands of all time.

Enjoy!
