George Harrison
All Things Must Pass
2001 remaster

24-bit audio for DVD-A/DVD-V

This will be the last of four parts of a comparison project for "All Things Must Pass".

As a number of folks may know, I shared a transfer I did of the Toshiba/Japan red vinyl pressing of
"All Things Must Pass" back in 2007-2008. Since that time I've made changes to some of the hardware
and software that I use with my projects. After making these changes there were requests for me
to go back and revisit the Toshiba red wax pressing.

This time around I decided to make things a little more interesting by doing a multi-pressing
comparison project. In reading about "All Things Must Pass" on the Hoffman forum one can't help but
run into various opinions about which particular pressing of ATMP is considered "the best". I found
that the UK first pressing was mentioned a number of times, as was the German pressing. I also felt
that the 2001 remaster pressing deserved to be compared as it's where we are now in the evolution
of official releases for this LP.

We can now compare, contrast, and decide for ourselves just what differences may exist between
these pressings, at least based upon how they are presented via my own modest system.

This 2001 remastered pressing is part four of this project.

The 2001 remaster is supposedly the way George Harrison wanted this LP to sound now. Is it better than
what came before? That's up to you.

Please note that the track order here is different than what you'll find on the official remastered CDs.
The order presented here is as it appears on the vinyl. This LP contains the following tracks:

1. I’d Have You Anytime
2. My Sweet Lord
3. Wah-Wah
4. Isn’t It A Pity
5. I Live For You (previously unreleased)
6. What Is Life
7. If Not For You
8. Behind That Locked Door
9. Let It Down
10. Run Of The Mill
11. Beware Of Darkness (demo)
12. Beware Of Darkness
13. Apple Scruffs
14. Ballad Of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll)
15. Awaiting On You All
16. All Things Must Pass
17. What Is Life (backing track)
18. Let It Down (demo)
19. I Dig Love
20. Art Of Dying
21. Isn’t It A Pity (version 2)
22. Hear Me Lord
23. My Sweet Lord (2000)
24. It’s Johnny’s Birthday
25. Plug Me In
26. Out Of The Blue
27. I Remember Jeep
28. Thanks For The Pepperoni

This now completes the comparison project. For those who are interested in such things,
this comparison project should give the listener a common, consistent point from which
to assess and compare the differences in these pressings.

The setup used:
-Technics SL-1900 direct drive turntable running an Ortofon 2M Black cartridge
-JVC AX-R97 integrated amp
-E-MU 1212M sound card
The audio was captured at 192/32-bit (float)
All pops & clicks were removed manually in Audition. No EQ or NR has been added.
Sample rate conversion to 96kHz & 44.1khz and down-converting to 16-bit audio
was accomplished via iZotope RX Advanced.

Artwork is included for those who care for it.

Good luck.
