Quality: 8.5-9.0/10 IMHO,as always.
Pretty fine quality for a 30-year-old
locally produced FM broadcast. Ex-,
rarely vg+. Turn down the bass on some
of the tracks or you'll blow out your
speakers !

1 CD, 14 tracks, 61:27
This is the COMPLETE concert,
to the best of my knowledge.

Lineage:

FM broadcast > unknown recording equipment >
unknown master tape > TDK D90 normal bias
cassette tape, 2nd gen > JVC TD-W505 stereo
double cassette deck > AIWA XC-RW700 CD/CD recorder >
Memorex Black CD-R 80 min. music CD (tracked files here) >
Cakewalk Pyro 2005 (retracked & edited files here) >
Trader's Little Helper (wav files to flac, encode
level 8, aligned on sector boundaries)

I got this from a good friend of mine over 20 years ago. It's a
2nd gen copy of the FM broadcast. Even though I was living outside
of Pittsburgh in 1977, I was not present at this show so I can't
tell you anything about it. This will not be one of my typically
long-winded concert descriptions, so I'll get on with it.

There's not a lot that's bad with this recording. There's virtually
NO hiss, obviously only faint audience noise and NO distortion. All
vocals and instruments are almost always clearly heard. At times, the
bass is WAY too high and rarely the vocals will be a little faint. There
are volume fluctuations occasionally but whether this is due to the
original taper or the concert soundman is difficult to discern. I
reduced the volume level on part of Track 11 because it was way too
loud but everything else is as I got it in trade: raw. There is a small
cut in Track 11 which I fused together hopefully seamlessly. Its cause
is unknown.

This recording is from early in the band's history when they were hungry
and out to prove themselves ; they attack most of the songs and play at
times ferociously. Contrast this document with what they sound like today.
What's that you said ? You think that they're middle-aged has-been assclowns
that only play at county fairs and suburban festivals ? Boy, I'm glad that I'm
not nasty and negative like you are......well, that about sums it up for me
so let's wrap this up.

As always, if you have a better-sounding version of this concert,
by all means PLEASE UPLOAD IT!!! No buy, no sell, no mp3. Please
seed this as long as you can. This 2nd generation tape has
probably NOT been circulated widely so JUMP ON IT !! I will post
a sample shortly for those of you still undecided, but I think you'll
find that this is a excellent-sounding tape and a welcome addition
to any Cheap Trick fan's collection. Well, thanks for reading this
and Mr. Natural would like to add these few comments: have fun, don't
freak out and by all means, enjoy the show!!!
