Love Hotel: Performed only once in front of an audience, this is it. Not the best recording, but a nice little ditty.
Kansas: This song dates back to the mid-1970’s. It was never played live until 1999. Neil referred to it once early in the ‘99 tour while looking up something else in his lyrics book he carried. Someone asked him to play Kansas and he performed it a few times later in the tour.
Homefires: Another tune dating from the mid 70’s, here’s a performance from the ‘92 solo tour. Neil said in 1997 that this song doesn’t apply anymore.
Love Art Blues: CSN provide some nice harmonies for this tune Neil wrote about being torn between his music life and his personal life.
Separate Ways: Yet another tune from the mid 70’s, this one not heard by the public until the ‘93 tour with Booker T. and the MG’s. Pretty sad song really, kind of a companion tune to Already One in my mind.
Crime Of The Heart: Listen for the reference to the Cindy Lauper song, Girl’s Just Want To Have Fun. One of the songs that would make a live Bluenotes record special.
Bad News: This song really captures what the energy and soul of the Bluenotes. If you’ve seen the “This Note’s For You” video, a snippet of this song is in it.
Stranger In Paradise: A cover of a classic show tune, played at one of the Bridge School Benefits.
Run Around Babe: Early Neil.
Find Another Shoulder: Early Neil, but played by the Bluenotes in ‘88. I think this one dates back to the Squires days.
Your Love Again: One of the many tunes recorded for the Old Ways album. This one didn’t quite make it out to the public, at least not to your major record stores.
Guilty Train: Not really a complete song, just a snippet that was played at the end of “Old Laughing Lady” during the ‘76 tour and on some later tours as well.
Dog House: A novelty tune. Kinda humorous. You be the judge.
Windward Passage: Instrumental tune played with the Ducks in ‘77.
No One Seems To Know: Still another mid-70’s tune, played live in ‘76. This one is from early ‘83 though.
Extra Extra: One of the better tunes from the Electra demos.
Give Me Strength: Yep, another one from the mid-70s, this one actually from a performance in ‘76.
Walking After Midnight: Played only once, I think. One of the many Bluenotes tunes found in this collection. In fact, if you took all the Bluenotes tunes contained herein and compiled them together, you would have one heck of an album.
