One World, One Album
Show broadcast on Radio 1
Monday 5 December 2005: 0100-0300
Producers Note:
This programme is dedicated to the life and work of John Lennon who was killed on the 8th of December 1980.
This weeks One World is a very special One World, One Album Show.
Whilst musing over a pint and some crisps with some colleagues from Radio 1 we had the idea to ask all our favourite artists from all over the world to cover a track from an album which we consider is perhaps the most diverse album within itself by any one band.
That album is of course the White Album by the Beatles (yes, we know the album was actually called The Beatles).
The show will be narrated by Beatles studio engineer/producer Chris Thomas. The legendary Thomas has produced The Eagles, Roxy Music, Sex Pistols, Pulp, Brian Eno and mixed Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon.
The result is this mela of artists from across all genres and yes from all over the world too! We'll be interspersing this programme with some clips of Paul, John, George and Ringo chatting to the BBC from back in the 1960s. There will also hopefully be some never before heard audio featured in the programme.
Here is the complete list of artists who have taken part:
