Smashed Block contains rare tracks from Marc Bolan's early years with the psychedelic folk-rock band John's Children; some had never been officially released on CD, while others date from unreleased BBC sessions. Some tracks were produced by Simon Napier-Bell, who also worked with the Yardbirds during the same period. The booklet features liner notes by original John's Children vocalist Andy Ellison.
