Notes

This 16-song compilation out of the Czech Republic is a handy overview of the Treniers' work, starting as it does with "Buzz Buzz Buzz," cut for Mercury in early 1947, and extending through their brief stay on London ("Everybody Get Together") -- interspersed with sides credited as Milt Trenier solo releases ("You're Killin' Me") -- and right up to the 1956 RCA-issued "Sorrento." The sound, which has been treated with CEDAR processing, is amazingly crisp and consistent, with only minor surface noise on the pre-tape source material, as on "Ain't She Mean," to mar some of the playback. But considering the diversity of sounds here, from '40s harmony R&B in the manner of the Mills Brothers to the more jumping style of the 1950s, those flaws can be overlooked, at least until someone comes up with an official box set devoted to this group and to Milt Trenier as a solo artist.
