cassette (generation unknown)
The recording says "St. Maples Place," but the JT Gigography at the Chatterbox forum (http://chatterbox.freeforumboard.net) says "Club 57." Club 57 was on "St. Marks Place."
Wow, this is the type of performance I would have died to see! It's just Johnny and his guitar, and plays not only his Dolls, Heartbreakers, Gang War, and solo stuff, but covers everyone from the Stones to Dylan and Bobby Darin. Yeah, he was obviously in a haze, but not too bad. Imagine if he was 100% sober...what an amazing event this would have been....and how many more there would have been over the years.
This is the type of performance that really makes me angry at Johnny! Why the fuck couldn't you have sobered up and given us more?!
1981 was definitely not his best year, but not nearly the disaster that 1982 would turn out to be. Thank God that Christopher Gierke was there to pick him up and reignite his career after '82, because that looked like the end...
