Notes

Sound Quality: An excellent, complete recording from the boxed-set of music from the festival.

Song List: Substitute, Summertime Blues, Pictures of Lily, A Quick One While He's Away, Happy Jack, My Generation.

Details: A superb, professional recording. 'Substitute' and 'Summertime Blues' (an Eddie Cochran song and a new addition to the set that would be a staple for many years to come) are played at a blistering pace along with the new single, 'Pictures of Lily', which is more powerful as a live piece. 'A Quick One While He's Away' was rehearsed especially for the short string of shows the band played in the states in June of 1967 and this version shows that they hadn't gotten it quite down yet; nevertheless, it's still an effective live piece and the long 'You Are Forgiven' section reaches a nice intensity level. After 'Happy Jack', the band rushes through 'My Generation', which is done a full step higher and in a simpler arrangement (one less key change)—the turmoil of the smash-up is obvious in the recording, along with the crowd's approval. Not the most technical performance by any means, but one of their most exciting.
