The Jayhawks
Chicago Recording Company
Chicago, IL 7-9-03
This was the pilot broadcast of the nationally syndicated "Lost Highway Radio
Hour," curiously enough "hosted" by Stephen King. (Apparently he is a big
Jayhawks fan; see below.) I'm not sure how widely syndicated this show is at this point, since
the Jayhawks Fan Page only promoted Chicago's WXRT-FM upcoming air date on
the site.
This is a nice-sounding FM; the only irritant is that "Save It For A Rainy Day"
fades in underneath King's interview in the middle of the broadcast. I tried
to place the track ID such that as much of the music as possible could be
preserved as a separate track, but I can't imagine why they would do that.
This was recorded during the afternoon of July 9th, a few hours before their
show with The Thorns at the Vic Theater. I hope you like it!
(Stephen King said this about his music tastes in Entertainment
Weekly over the summer:
"What I'm not interested in is ear candy. There's a place where
you can put that, and it's not in your ear. I think that stuff
should crawl right out of the radio speaker and get in your face.
I think it should interrupt your life. Consequently I love the
Jayhawks, like the White Stripes, and have no interest in Celine Dion.")
