On The Roots of Powerpop Bomp! put the Romantics "First in Line" and "Tell It to Carrie"), Stiv Bators ("Make Up Your Mind"), Plimsouls ("I'll Get Lucky") and Flamin' Groovies ("Him or Me") together with a host of lesser known acts. The result is a bouncing snapshot from when punk dared to be pop. The time span is 1979-81 the songs are insistent, and about a couple dozen bands prove here the effectiveness of the approach. Liner notes chart the waxing and waning of power pop and include a sentence or two about each cut.
