An essential collection of all of the early Iveys and Badfinger BBC sessions from 1968 and early 1969.
Documenting the era when the Iveys were a struggling covers band and just about to break into the minor leagues with their first Apple single "Maybe Tomorrow", as well as their earliest sessions as Badfinger (at the time of "Come And Get It"), this disc is a goldmine for the fans. The covers are eclectic and fascinating - a snapshot of the era.
The historical and musical importance of these sessions, and their rarity, certainly make up for any sound quality defects (see lineage).
QUALITY: B- and B MONO (tinny, lacking bass, somewhat shrill mids and rounded treble, and boasting the wonderful offspeed BBC chipmunk intros; quality varies from session to session). No remastering was attempted, but judicious parametric equalization couldn't hurt.
LINEAGE: dodgy 1968 & 1969 BBC AM broadcasts>dodgy radio speaker>dodgy mono microphone>dodgy cassette or reel recorder
