Comments by Evelyn Schwarz
Sound quality is good to very good. The material is more for the die-hard Lennon-collector with historical interest than the one who wants a piece for joyfull listening. The tracks were recorded in mid-September 1971 in a suite of the St. Regis Hotel, NYC. The cover notice "June 1971" is wrong. It's the soundtrack for the film "Clock". In which one can see an hour passing by on a watch on the hotel wall. The soundtrack consists of Yoko's phone calls, who just compiled exponates for her exhibition "This Is Not Here" in Everson Arts Museum in Syracuse/New York in October 1971. You can hear her permanently chatting on the phone in the background while John plays some of his fave songs from the 50's on acoustic guitar. The film premiered at the Everson exhibtion.
This CD - albeit very short - is very interesting. The material comes from a tape source (film?) and contains some new tracks of this soundtrack, not known by name 'till now. And in comparison to the already available tracks on other bootlegs, there are longer intros & outros and more chat on this CD. Those tracks, said to belong to this soundtrack: "Send Me Some Lovin' " (CD Dreaming Of The Past bzw. LP LLT10, "J. J. (Angela)" (CD Serve Yourself bzw. LP LLT21), "New York City" (LP LLT10) sound very different in their hole 'picture". Even "Not Fade Away" (on LP LLT8) sounds slightly different. IMO they don't belong to this tape. Maybe they were at the film soundtrack, but not from the same recording situation. The tape offers half an hour, with a mention of "that's what happened to a quarter to..." during track 7, so it seems to be the 2nd half of the filmed hour. The first half has not appeared 'till now.
