Notes

2 June 1966: Gröna Lund, Stockholm
25 October 1966: Club Nalen, Stockholm

Sound Quality: A poor recording—all the songs are there, but with a lot of cuts.

Song List: Heatwave (cuts in), Dancing in the Streets, Barbara Ann (cuts), Daddy Rolling Stone (incomplete), A Legal Matter, Substitute, My Generation (cuts).

Details: A lousy, fragmented recording, but if you can get past that you can appreciate it as a very rare live Who document from 1966. Moon takes the lead vocal for 'Barbara Ann', which they—d record in August, and the rather long version of 'Daddy Rolling Stone' includes a bit of Stevie Wonder's 'Uptight'. Townshend delivers a nice 'A Legal Matter' before 'Substitute' and 'My Generation' close the show—the latter unfortunately cuts just after the first key change. A great recording for any collector, even with the talking around the recorder in what was evidently an outdoor dance club.

Sound Quality: A fair, almost complete audience recording.

Song List: Heatwave (cuts in), Dancing in the Streets, Barbara Ann, So Sad About Us, Substitute, The Kids Are Alright, I'm a Boy, My Generation (end cuts).

Details: This absolute gem is a must-have for any live Who fan. A much better recording than the June 2nd Gröna Lund show, this performance includes most of their staples from this period. The pace is very fast and Townshend uses a twelve-string on 'Substitute' and 'The Kids Are Alright', faithfully reproducing the effect of the studio recordings. The show closes with 'My Generation' (still resembling the original arrangement) and the inevitable smash-up. Considering the time period, you can't complain about this recording one bit.
