Notes

Excellent English guitar driven psych/prog hardrock with a tiny blues influence. Pre-BUDGIE member. This remaster contains both their albums from 1969 and 1972.

A little known and underrated talent. John Thomas had two hits with The Flies in Australia before coming to London to form his own band in 1969. Both albums are consistently good, strong material and raw vocals, which suit the guitar-driven musical format. There's some good guitar work on both albums. Ride A Rainbow is certainly the most commercial track on the first album but Trippin' Like A Dog And Rockin' Like A Bitch is really the magnum opus. The second album is excellent too. The opening cut Down In The Bottom sets the tone for more guitar driven hard rock from which the title track, Brother Bat Bone, is really the highlight, but dig the melodic guitar work on This Is My Body and Standin' In The Sunshine illustrates his mellower side. This is slightly the stronger of two but both are recommended.

Friends , collaborators / partners-in-crime for over 20 years all the guys have at some stage been members of both THE EDGAR BROUGHTON BAND & THE DRIVERS. THE DRIVERS, once based in BERLIN, are now based in London. Until now other commitments have stood in the way of the current line-up. Not financially motivated & certainly not for the faint of heart, the DRIVERS have a reputation for their 'take no prisoners' attitude. They play mostly original material, all members being prolific songwriters.

Steve Broughton & Arthur Grant founder members with Steve's brother Edgar & ARTHUR GRANT of the EDGAR BROUGHTON BAND, an icon of the alternative, underground rock scene need no introduction to the Barnet & North London music scene.....Steve & Arthur have recorded & toured with many different artists over the years, including MIKE OLDFIELD (Steve is featured on TUBULAR BELLS), ROY HARPER, JIMMY PAGE, DAVE GILMORE,SOULTAX, JOHNNY & THE DRIVERS.....Steve joined Johnny in Berlin to record the band's first album 'This Must Be The Night' in 1980 & is also featured on REMEMBER ME THIS WAY Johnny Drivers recent solo album.

Sheriff Jack prefers to keep his considerable track record 'off the record' but like the others has had international exposure both here in Europe & the USA. Multi- instrumentalist & songwriter extraordinaire, he is also one of Johnny Driver's favourite guitar players (John being being no slouch himself).

Born in Sydney, Australia, Johnny Driver (a.k.a Creepy John Thomas) has truly been rockin' around for over three decades. He's been writing songs since his first venture into the music business when, as a member of Melbourne based band THE FLIES, he co-wrote their chart hits. During this time, THE FLIES became infamous in Australia for both their wild appearance and their frantic live performances. As the enfant terribles of the Aussie pop scene, they appeared regularly on TV , supported The ROLLING STONES,ROY ORBISON on their Australian tours. Moving to London, John released the album CREEPY JOHN THOMAS on RCA VICTOR. A second album, BROTHER BAT BONE, was released on Teldec. These two albums have since become cult classics and are often sought after by rock historians and collectors. Both albums have since been bootlegged by Fingerprint Records although John has never received any royalties from sales of these recordings. In the early seventies, after spending over a year in San Francisco, John returned to London and joined the EDGAR BROUGHTON BAND as guitarist. He is featured on the albums LIVE HITS HARDER and BANDAGES (with MIKE OLDFIELD). During this time John recorded with DAVE STEWART and ANNIE LENNOX in their pre EURYTHMICS days. After several more years with the EDGAR BROUGHTON BAND, John moved to Berlin,Germany in 1979, where as leader of JOHNNY & THE DRIVERS, he remained part of the Berlin rock scene for nearly ten years. Two albums were released, THIS MUST BE THE NIGHT on Polydor and HOMING IN ON ZERO on Phonogram. Now based in London, John spends his time writing and recording and planning his next attack on the music establishment. He runs WEREWOLF MUSIC and spends most of his time working with other artists as producer/ musician and songwriter. John has just produced his first solo effort in decades....REMEMBER ME THIS WAY
