elvis recorded many tapes at home during his period
in the army. there are a number of tapes that crop
up more than once on the tapes ...

there are several 'slow' and 'fast' versions of
"i'll take you home again kathleen" ... the 'fast'
version here appears to be different to either of
the sources available (platinum set & a private moment).
similarly, there appears to be a further two alternate
versions of "apron strings" and another version of
"i asked the lord".

the unreleased false start of "i'm beginning to forget you" leads
directly into the version released on "a private moment".

there is no definite date although several sources agree that
they have to have been recorded around april 1959.

the notes after the removed tracks refer fairly logically to the
the albums the versions came from (a private moment, golden celebration,
home recordings & platinum).

i got the material here on a cd which was labelled "elvis is here".
this is the tracklist for that release. it clearly pays no direct
resemblance to the cd in hand.

i have therefore not scanned the sleeve since it has little to do with
the contents. this therefore is my own compilation from that release.

each track ended with a small portion of the following one and hence
was rather irritating so i ripped the whole thing to wavs and laid them
end to end in cooledit, mixed them down to a single continuous wav and
edited the tracks from there. this helped also as a few of the tracks
starts were part way through the music and were thus 'repaired'.

lineage:
bootleg cd (very likely a bootleg of a bootleg with additional material) >
audiograbber wavs > cooledit editing as described above > cdwave tracksplitting >
dbpoweramp > flac > you
