This major label top rarity with the iconic sleeve of Geronimo is quite a varied album from the exellent dreamy psych opener "Memories" with strings to dirty mean blues rock with gruff vocals, stripped down blues songs with good slide guitar to some kind of acoustic folk song "Death of a Dream". Nice limited (500) reissue taken from the original master tapes.

A blues-rock band whose album is now an ultra-rarity. There's also been a limited edition (300 copies) release of live material, Diamonds In The Dirt, by the band. Produced by Geoff Gill, the Red Dirt album mostly comprises heavy blues-rock tracks, which are unlikely to have much appeal beyond fans of this genre. The only variation to this format comes with the opening cut Memories, the melodic Song For Pauline, the country-influenced Death Of A Dream and the final cut I've Been Down So Long, but unless you're heavily into blues-rock don't spend a small fortune on this album.

Red Dirt were a British heavy blues-rock band, whose sole eponymous album appeared and disappeared again in 1970, leaving little impression on the record-buying public. The reason for this, unlike some other unfairly obscure efforts, is that it's dull and generic and completely unable to provide anything not already catered for by many far better bands. Surprisingly, there's Mellotron (player unknown) on opener Memories (also the album's least generic track), with fairly heavy MkII strings, although that appears to be it.
